What's better: Natural Birth or Ceasarian?

Me and our lass are having a 'conversation' about giving birth, as she was talking to a friend who studies nursery (so I'm told).

I personally think that natural birth is better. Ok, so it bloody hurts and you've gotta push for all its worth, but it's NATURAL.

I don't like the idea of Ceasarian. It means getting cut up, it's not natural, and then you've got cut marks and stitches. I sounds gross to me. Doesn't it screw your belly up? Our lass also seems to think that after birth she'll be bedridden for a MONTH.

I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT MY GF IS NOT PREGNANT. We were talking about it for when she does become pregnant.

What's your thoughts on the subject?

Caesarians are, and should only be used, as if the baby's life depends on it. If a baby is healthy and there is no reason for the mother not to have a natural birth then there are arugments that this has an affect on the baby's health later in life, as well as the mothers.

A caesarian section is a major abdominal surgery and it is quite incapacitating afterwards

both of my children were born naturally both with difficult births with the ubilical cord around their neck, my daughter was born face first too

neither were breathing when they were born but the skill and experience of the staff sorted them out very quickly

My little girl was born with a caesarian and it was only after 3 days of trying to induce the labour has failed.

My Wife thinks that the post natal depression she suffered for so long afterwards was partly down to this. As soon as they got Morgan out and cleaned her up, she was handed to me outside. In the meantime Angela (the Wife) was being stitched up etc.

The bond that usually occurs between a mother and child with a natural birth didn't happen and the whole trauma really affected her.

It is weird because the mums who have had Caessarian's want a natrual birth, like my mum and my wee sister but they both had to be sectioned, as Seamus said ... ONLY if the child is in danger should it be Caessarian.

Well, for male it's easy to say 'go for a natural', as it will not be HE who will feel all that pain etc. It's said that if man would feel that pain which woman feel when she gives a birth, he would die, it's sooo painful.
And, let me tell you how it is in Poland. You give a natural birth in public hospital. IF YOU WILL NOT PAY. If you go to private hospital, a doctor just ask you, which metod do you want to? You can choose a caesarian. For free then. It costs, so in public hospitals you will have to almost beg for it, and pay for it. Any of women I've heard, who had ceasarian, didn't complain. THEY WERE HAPPY, coz they didn't have to feel all that pain! My mum's friend had 3 ceasarian. Did she complain? Hell, NO!
The link between Mother and Baby? That it won't be created when she won't get a baby after giving a birth? Hmm. It's a really new thing that a woman get a baby just after giving a birth to it. FOR CENTURIES, MAYBE MILLENIUMS they didn't get a baby just after giving a birth to them. My mum saw me few hours after giving me birth. Doesn't she love me? No!
As I said, it's easy for male to say, go for a natural, as it won't be he, who will suffer all that.
I was talking with my friend, who studies nursery. She said that the only difference is, that baby who isn't born natural is a little bit weaker in the beginning. It's much more safe than giving a birth natural in water, which is said is sooo safe, blah blah.
I wonder what would you like to choose if you men would have to give a birth. I really wonder.
And no, we are not going to have babies. Not during next 4-5 years. I'm just 24, 25 this year. I'm too young for it
And yes, the most important is that baby will be health.

i suppose if men had to do it.... it would improve girth a little... so some men may like it.... after the excrutiating and agonising pain that would make them faint or wish for death to take them, but who knows?

Well considering that we men feel like we're dying when we've got a cold, you've got a point.

However, I can only reiterate what I've said before but if evolution had made it easier for women to give birth then it would have happened by now. I'm not saying that to be nasty, but the only good thing about caesarians are the fact that doctors can spot when a baby is in distress and get it out thus avoid stillborns. I still don't think that requesting a caesarian should be allowed without a valid medical reason to justify it.

Actually sandgirl, you are at the prefect age for having a baby. It's harder on your body the longer you leave it.
The pain isn't that bad anyway, you'll just have to sit on a rubber ring for the first few days LOL.

I never fancied a caesarian, even if I had the option. Don't like the idea if being cut open, especialy while conscious.

Well, from the biological point of view, I am in good time for having a baby, I know. And I might even be mentally&emotionally ready. But, I have to do many things before. I.e. graduate University, find a job, start earning money etc. Baby has to have good backgrounds. Good enough standard of life.
And, well, I want to live with ssmmdd only for few years as well Then we might think of becoming parents
And... if ssmmdd really cares that so much, I will agree on natural birth.
But I still think caesarian is a better option.

I would say natural - I had to have a c-section with my daughter after I failed to 'progress' during an 18 and a half hour labour, and I suffered for weeks on end. I developed a womb infection (which is common with c-sections), as well as heavier blood loss after the birth (in comparison to natural), as well as PND. The bond I had with her wasnt very strong for a while - which I regret having now I look back. The only good thing was that i didnt tear down there
