Does Team Fortress Classic still exist?

    I deleted Steam / Half-Life / TFC off my PC a few year's ago.

Does Team Fortress Classic still exist? Do real people (not bots) still play it? Are there still 5+ servers with up to 20 people playing Dustbowl?

(I've seen videos of TF2 on YouTube and it looks awful.)

Yes, but afaik only on Steam (it's on my Steam).

No idea if real people play it or how many Servers there are.

Blimey it's Hog, the player with so many warnings and bans at BYGames we had to rewrite the admin rule book!

An expert in the art of rocket and grenade jumping to the final capture point on dustbowl too iirc

We don't support TFC at Wireplay due to a total lack of players. However, it might be worth arranging a TFC Community event so we can reminisce.

I may have had a few warnings and a 24 hour ban...or two, but I never received a permanent ban from any server (except maybe Gamesurf ????).

I was terrible at rocket jumps and could never do grenade jumps either, but I could do a decent spy and sniper.

If I can't play Dustbowl with real people then Steam ain't going back on my PC.

    Cheers Sid!

What's the easiest way to start playing TFC again? Do I need to install my old Half-Life game and then get onto Steam?

Install Steam, then install TFC through it (it'll download it). I think the main servers with players on regularly are Royston Vasey and some Dutch server I can't remember the name of atm (Game-zone.nl? or something)

Games-inside.nl is long gone, Royston Vasey gets busy most nights and dustbowl is pretty popular on there at night-time (along with many other OvD maps) There's also a russian server with activity... Dunno about yank servers though :S
I hated TF2 originally , mainly cos it's much slower than TFC and lacked grenades, but I recently started playing it again and I really enjoy it as long as the map is quite small (so speed is less of an issue) and it's quite nice NOT to be fragged by a spammed grenade every single encounter :S

The hats, different weapons and what-not make it pretty fun and random item drops also add another angle to the game. Oh and TF2 is now completely free so it's gotta be worth a go. I can often be found on our ctf_2fort server ( 94.136.46.13:27017 Wireplay.co.uk TF2 <06> 2fort 24/7 ) using the alias [UN]Stuntman Mike.
Best list I could find of TF2 servers :- http://www.wireplay.co.uk/games/supp...am-fortress-2/
(I'm sure there's a better one but I'm busy right now)

In Europe there's usually AIMaster.ru during the day and Royston Vasey in the evening.

There's also at least one pickup server (540Hosting.com | #tfc.pickup 4v4), if you want to participate there try #tfc.pickup @ QuakeNet IRC.

There are two "fun" servers, #Noobi-Heaven and "feckin-mad.co.uk - [FM] Fun Server".

Also two skills servers usually get busy, SkillzWorld.eu Easy/Med[ium] and Hard.

For American servers and a general overview try http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?game=tfc (bot counts are in parentheses). A couple of servers can be missing from either server list, so putting servers into the Steam server browser's favourites is a good idea. Drippy's 2fort and The Gas Chamber are a good starting point for American servers.

    mulchtrench was my fav.
TF2 never lived up to the gaming potential of TFC, playability and life of TFC is still amazing and worth dipping into for anyone.
