Just curious, why not arcane archers?

As in the title and as per the merp manual, why are AAs disallowed?

I suppose one rationale would be that ME works don't mention any, other than the elven penchant for archery. Anything else? I ask because DDs are allowed as tribute to their toughness, and there are special PrCs for hobbits and orcish sorts. I'd argue for their inclusion, as the AA powers are more behind-the-scenes than flashy (with the sole exception of Imbue Arrow), and the merp two-class-only rule precludes the more powerful AA combinations.

For the avoidance of doubt ... I don't intend to make one, mostly because I don't like playing bards. I am simply curious. Plus, I wouldn't mind their addition to add colour to the other elves of the world.

We decided against AA's pre UTT2 in order to represent the text better, limit the circulation of magic and also the fact that such a class will overpower an archer, particularly with the current setup we have.

Also I believe there are plans for an elven archer prestige class in the near(ish) future.

A standard teenage work combined with a touch of old English. I like it.

What, "Scramasax"?

Well spotted. I also used to collect knives as a hobby.
